Kate King came to Asheville, NC, in 1996 by way of Nashville, TN. She left behind a past in library science & interior design to learn the hospitality business working for her family at their cabin retreat in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The retreat is located on land that has belonged to the women in her family since before the Civil War. In 1983, the family dairy farm was transformed into a cabin retreat. After a year of learning how to become a property manager, she became the general manager in 1997. Later, she purchased the business and continued to manage the property for the next 5 years. In May 2010, Kate chose to sell Mountain Springs to RVC and become a member of the team.
She is involved with the community through her relationship with the local Chamber of Commerce, her work with the Zoning & Planning Committee, as well as her associations with several environmental groups. For Kate, this is a way to help preserve and protect her mountain community.
